Patrick Flooring is very passionate about the environment and believes in sustainable practices wherever they may be applicable. An April 2015 study conducted by Plan It Geo for the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, found that Columbus needs to plant 300,000 trees by 2020 to recover from damage caused by insects (Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Long-horned Beetle) and severe weather. Our pledge is to plant an appropriate tree for every 500 square feet of floor installed or custom flooring produced. We would prefer to plant the tree(s) in our customers’ yards, but understand for various reasons that may not be practical. The alternative is to plant the trees in various locations throughout Columbus in order to contribute to the rebuilding of Columbus’s tree count. We have partnered with Branch Out Columbus who is leading the Columbus tree effort. With Branch Out’s guidance we will locate specific areas of Columbus in need of new plantings. We were careful in choosing our tree provider to be sure we are getting the most resilient and successful trees. Riverside Native Trees is a respectable and professional company that values the quality of their products while remaining extremely knowledgeable about what they are selling. All trees will be planted at the beginning of spring to maximize survivability and will be at no extra cost to our customers. This is simply something we want to see happen to exemplify the significance of a sustainable environment while also proving that we are not your average hardwood company.
